Delivery Info
This Delivery Information Policy applies to all orders placed through the J&E online store.
1. Delivery areas
J&E Cash ‘n Carry delivers orders to physical addresses throughout South Africa, subject to courier availability, product restrictions and the accessibility of the delivery address.
Certain remote or outlying areas may require additional delivery time or may not be serviceable by our standard courier partners.
We do not deliver to PO boxes. Customers must provide a complete physical street address where someone will be available to receive the order.
2. Delivery charges
Delivery charges are calculated according to:
- The delivery address;
- The size and weight of the order;
- The number of cartons or parcels;
- The type of products ordered; and
- Any special handling requirements.
The final delivery charge will be displayed during checkout before payment is completed.
Delivery promotions or free-delivery offers may be made available from time to time. Any minimum order value, delivery-area restriction or other promotional condition will be displayed on the website.
3. Order processing
Orders are processed after:
- Payment has been successfully received or approved;
- The customer’s details have been verified where necessary; and
- Product availability has been confirmed.
Orders are normally prepared for dispatch within one to two business days after payment confirmation.
Orders placed over weekends or South African public holidays will be processed from the next business day.
Large wholesale orders, pallet orders, special orders and orders containing unusually large quantities may require additional preparation time. Customers will be contacted where a material delay is expected.
4. Estimated delivery times
Estimated delivery times after dispatch are:
- Pretoria and greater Gauteng: One to three business days;
- Major cities and regional centres: Two to five business days; and
- Outlying or remote areas: Four to eight business days.
These delivery periods are estimates and are not guaranteed delivery dates.
Delivery may take longer during promotions, month-end periods, peak shopping seasons, public holidays, severe weather, road closures, courier disruptions or unusually high order volumes.
5. Order tracking
Where courier tracking is available, the customer will receive tracking information by email, SMS, WhatsApp or through their online account.
Tracking information may take several hours to become active after the order has been collected by the courier.
6. Correct delivery information
Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery details, including:
- The recipient’s full name;
- Business or trading name, where applicable;
- Street address;
- Building, shop or unit number;
- Suburb and postal code;
- Contact telephone number; and
- Any access or delivery instructions.
J&E Cash ‘n Carry will not be responsible for delays caused by incorrect, incomplete or outdated delivery information supplied by the customer.
Additional courier charges may apply where an address must be corrected after dispatch or where an order must be resent.
7. Receiving an order
An authorised person must be available at the delivery address to receive the order.
The courier may require the recipient to provide their name, signature, order number, proof of identity or a delivery PIN.
Delivery to a receptionist, security guard, employee, household member or another person present at the delivery address may be treated as successful delivery where that person reasonably appears authorised to accept the order.
8. Unsuccessful deliveries
Where a delivery cannot be completed because:
- No one is available;
- The premises are closed;
- The delivery address is incorrect;
- The delivery address is inaccessible; or
- The recipient refuses the order without a valid reason,
the courier may arrange another delivery attempt or return the order to J&E Cash ‘n Carry.
The customer may be responsible for additional delivery charges resulting from an unsuccessful delivery caused by circumstances within the customer’s control.
9. Checking an order
Customers should inspect the delivery as soon as reasonably possible after receiving it.
Any visible damage, missing cartons or signs of tampering should be recorded on the courier’s delivery document where possible.
J&E Cash ‘n Carry must be notified within 48 hours after delivery where:
- The incorrect product was delivered;
- A product or carton is missing;
- The delivered quantity is incorrect;
- A product was damaged during delivery; or
- Packaging appears to have been opened or tampered with.
Customers may be asked to provide photographs of the packaging, shipping label and affected products.
The 48-hour reporting period assists us with courier and warehouse investigations and does not remove any rights available under South African law.
10. Partial deliveries
Large orders may be delivered in more than one shipment.
Where an order is split into multiple shipments by J&E Cash ‘n Carry, the customer will not be charged an additional delivery fee unless this was agreed before dispatch.
11. Product availability
All orders are subject to product availability.
If a product becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, J&E Cash ‘n Carry may:
- Offer the customer a suitable alternative;
- Place the product on back order with the customer’s approval;
- Remove the unavailable product and refund its price; or
- Cancel and refund the affected portion of the order.
A materially different product will not be substituted without the customer’s approval.
12. Risk and ownership
Products remain at the risk of J&E Cash ‘n Carry until they have been delivered to and accepted by the customer or an authorised person at the delivery address.
Once delivery has been completed, responsibility for the correct storage, handling and use of the products passes to the customer.
13. Delays outside our control
J&E Cash ‘n Carry will not be responsible for delays caused by circumstances reasonably outside our control, including:
- Severe weather;
- Flooding;
- Road closures;
- Strikes;
- Civil unrest;
- Natural disasters;
- Courier network disruptions;
- Power failures;
- System failures;
- Government restrictions; or
- Inaccessible delivery areas.
We will take reasonable steps to keep affected customers informed and complete delivery as soon as reasonably possible.
